We’re collecting insights from the ground: through research, interviews, and discussions with people in the regions. This helps us understand the current challenges and identify what needs to change.
We’re organizing workshops and forums where local actors can exchange ideas, learn from each other, and develop new skills for shaping the future of mobility in their region.
We’re developing an easy-to-use online toolkit that helps local players plan and implement fair mobility strategies. This includes:
All project results will be shared online and at a final public conference. The tools and ideas we develop will be available to other regions across Europe — so more communities can benefit from our experience.
The EcoMobility Transition project supports a fair and sustainable transition in regions where the car industry plays a major role — especially in Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. In many of these areas, car production is a key employer. But as Europe moves toward more climate-friendly transport, these regions face big changes — both in how vehicles are made and how people get around.
Instead of treating production and mobility as two separate topics, we believe they must be addressed together. That means creating not just cleaner vehicles, but also better transport systems — and making sure people working in the car industry are part of that change.
To make this happen, we’re working closely with local stakeholders — from trade unions to city officials, employers, and civil society. Together, we’re creating strategies for a “Just Mobility Transition”: a fair and inclusive way to protect jobs, reduce emissions, and prepare regions for the future.
This project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
