Our project partner European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) has published a new book, that looks at Europe’s shift towards electric mobility and what this change means for the people working in the automotive industry.
It explains why car manufacturers across Europe need to rethink how they operate and why it’s so important to make this transition fair for workers and regions that depend on the industry.
The publication brings together easy-to-follow analyses and country examples from France, Germany, Italy and Central and Eastern Europe. It shows the challenges many regions face, but also the opportunities that come with moving towards cleaner mobility.
Several colleagues from our EcoMobility Transition project contributed to this publication. Béla Galgóczi edited the book, and Patrik Gažo, Tibor T. Meszmann, and Monika Martišková from Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) wrote a chapter that explores how the automotive sector in Slovakia, Hungary and Czechia is changing – and why involving workers and local communities is key to making the transition successful.
This idea is also a key part of our EcoMobility Transition project. We work to support a fair and sustainable mobility transition in the automotive regions of Central and Eastern Europe.
Our goal is to help regions strengthen cooperation, build knowledge, and develop practical tools so that environmental goals and social fairness go hand in hand. Publications like this ETUI book provide important insights that help guide this work.
